Kilworth was born in Lawrence, Kansas. He attended the public schools and the Lawrence Business College. After graduation from the business college, Kilwroth worked briefly as a clerk for Wells Fargo. In the early 1890's he accepted a position as clerk and bookkeeper at the Watkins National Bank. In the decade that followed Kilworth augmented his inheritance left to him by his father, Issac, and by 1899 he retired from the bank to manage his extensive property holdings. ...
